All 16 Hats in Gawr Gura: Quest for Bread – Locations & How to Unlock

Last reviewed: · Sources & evidence status below

Community Sourced (cross-checked)

Every one of the 16 hats in Gawr Gura Quest for Bread is covered on this page: the exact spot for each, what it takes to unlock it, and — where it matters — a missable warning, because at least one hat can be locked out permanently by walking through the wrong door. Ten hats are hidden across the zones, five are no-damage boss rewards, and the last one arrives on its own when you finish the game. Collect all 16 and you bank the Shark of Many Hats achievement.

How Hats Work in Gawr Gura: Quest for Bread

Hats are the game's main collectible. Five of the sixteen are bound to boss fights — each drops only if you beat that boss without taking damage, and each clean kill also unlocks its own achievement. The other eleven are found out in the world, most of them behind a short platforming detour or a drop most players would otherwise skip. Collect all sixteen and the Shark of Many Hats achievement pops.

Steam's own achievement text says only "Collect every hat" with no count, so the 16-hat list below is cross-checked across two independently written community guides rather than copied from an official listing — and every entry carries an evidence badge showing exactly how it is sourced. That is the whole system in Gawr Gura Quest for Bread: find them, earn them, and keep an eye on doors that lock behind you.

All 16 Hats – Quick List

The full set at a glance. Sort your run by area, or use it as a paper checklist against the interactive version. The Missable column is the one to read twice: "Yes" means a wrong door or a skipped room can cost you the hat on that save; "Unknown" means we have not verified it in-game yet.

Every Hat Location, Step by Step

Below is every hat location in Gawr Gura Quest for Bread, one entry per hat, in route order — the order you would naturally meet them from Gura's home to the final boss. Each entry gives the exact spot, what unlocks it, whether it can be missed, and how we sourced it. All five boss hats have a dedicated no-damage guide, linked from their entries.

1. Apple Hat – Location & Unlock

The easiest collectible in the game. The Apple Hat sits in Gura's bedroom, in plain view from the moment the game starts — walk over and pick it up, with no puzzle and no combat in the way. Its missable status has not been verified either way, though it is at the literal starting point of the run.

Area: Gura's Home Missable: Unknown (verifying in-game) Community Sourced

2. Propeller Hat – Location & Unlock

On a high ledge near the beginning of Fish Town. Reach it by using the nearby mushrooms as bounce pads to jump up. The ledge sits close to the start of the zone, which makes it easy to walk past on a first visit; missable status is not yet confirmed either way.

Area: Fish Town Missable: Unknown (verifying in-game) Community Sourced

3. Ice Cream Hat – Location & Unlock

Sits on a tall cylinder platform around the middle of the Ice Caves. The route up: jump along the breakable platforms, then use a mushroom for the final boost to the top. The challenge is the platforming itself. Missable status is unverified.

Area: Ice Caves Missable: Unknown (verifying in-game) Community Sourced

4. Fish Hat – Location & Unlock

Dropped by the Chief Fish rematch in the Ice Caves — but only if you win the fight without taking a single hit. The no-damage requirement is official; the hat drop is cross-checked across two community guides. The same clean kill unlocks the Chief of Nothing achievement.

5. Block Hat – Location & Unlock

Hidden in the falling-pillar section immediately after the Chief Fish rematch. Ride the third falling pillar down, then jump toward the mushroom below — the hat is grabbed during the descent, so commit to the drop instead of climbing back up. Missable status is unverified.

Block Hat descent — riding the third falling pillar toward the mushroom below — Ice Caves (step: Block Hat). Will be added after in-game capture; we do not use third-party images.

6. Cat Ears – Location & Unlock

Guarded by a skeleton in the rising-and-falling lava room inside Calli's Fortress. Drop down when the lava recedes, then defeat the skeleton to claim the hat. Wait for the low point of the lava cycle before committing to the drop. Missable status is unverified.

Area: Calli's Fortress Missable: Unknown (verifying in-game) Community Sourced

7. Top Hat – Location & Unlock

Dropped by Lost Shrimp in the Calli's Fortress boss arena — only if you finish the fight damage-free. The no-damage requirement comes straight from Steam; the drop itself is community-cross-checked. The same clean run unlocks the Get Lost achievement.

Area: Calli's Fortress Missable: Unknown (verifying in-game) Official Information

8. Pizza Hat – Location & Unlock

The one confirmed missable hat in the game. The break room sits off the bounce-pad route in Calli’s Fortress, and you must enter it before passing the circle-shaped door at the top — both of our sources warn that the door locks permanently behind you. If that door has already closed on your save, this hat is gone.

Pizza Hat break room entrance before the circular door that locks behind you — Calli's Fortress (step: Pizza Hat). Will be added after in-game capture; we do not use third-party images.

9. Crown Hat – Location & Unlock

Calli's reward in her Fortress boss arena for a clean, no-damage kill. As with every boss hat, the no-damage requirement is official and the drop is cross-checked in two community guides. The same clean kill unlocks the Pink Lady Bad achievement.

10. Shark Hat – Location & Unlock

Rests on rocks out in the ocean off the Island. From the higher platform near the chicken box, aim your jump down toward the rocks to reach it. Missable status is not yet confirmed either way.

Area: Island Missable: Unknown (verifying in-game) Community Sourced

11. Cowboy Hat – Location & Unlock

Found at the bottom of the Island waterfall — the one near the skateboarding chicken. Jump down from above and grab it. Missable status is not yet confirmed either way.

12. Drill Hat – Location & Unlock

Drillby drops this hat in the Island boss arena, with the usual condition: finish the fight without taking damage. Requirement official, drop community-cross-checked. The same clean kill unlocks the Get Drilled achievement.

Full guide: Drillby no-damage fight →

Area: Island Missable: Unknown (verifying in-game) Official Information

13. Dino Hat – Location & Unlock

Inside a small Watson Industries room decorated with a spiral of alternating red and blue squares. Climb the spiral to the top of the room — the pattern is the landmark, so if you are not seeing alternating squares, you are in the wrong room. Missable status is unverified.

Area: Watson Industries Missable: Unknown (verifying in-game) Community Sourced

14. Smolest Ame – Location & Unlock

At the end of the dark hallway in the Watson Industries Lab, right after the laser-eyed miniboss. Walk the hallway to its end — and mind the hole near the end. Missable status is unverified.

Area: Watson Industries Lab Missable: Unknown (verifying in-game) Community Sourced

15. Ame's Hat – Location & Unlock

The final boss, Doctor Watson, drops Ame’s Hat when you clear the fight without taking damage — and both of our sources call it the hardest hat in the game. The same clean run unlocks the Inevitably Stupid achievement.

Full guide: Doctor Watson no-damage fight →

Area: Watson Industries Missable: Unknown (verifying in-game) Official Information

16. Bread Hat – Location & Unlock

Not hidden at all: the Bread Hat is awarded automatically when you finish the game. It is the only hat in the list with a confirmed "No" in the missable column, so ignore it until the credits roll and it arrives on its own.

Missable Hats – Read This Before You Finish a Level

Pizza Hat is the one confirmed missable: in the bounce-pad section of Calli's Fortress, enter the break room before going through the circle-shaped door at the top — both sources warn the door locks behind you. Every other hat's missability is not yet confirmed either way; we are verifying in a post-game save. Two habits keep a completion run safe on a first playthrough: grab each zone's hats as you pass (the walkthrough routes you past all of them), and treat any door that looks one-way as one-way until proven otherwise.

Shark of Many Hats Achievement Guide

Collecting every hat is its own achievement — Shark of Many Hats — and it is the umbrella the rest of this page hangs off. Ten of the sixteen come from exploration; five are the no-damage boss rewards (Chief of Nothing, Get Lost, Get Drilled, Pink Lady Bad and Inevitably Stupid each carry their own achievement too); the Bread Hat arrives with the credits. If you are chasing full completion, the route is mapped in the 100% completion guide, and the achievements page breaks down all eleven achievements one by one.

Track Your Progress with the Hat Checklist

Prefer ticking things off? The interactive hat checklist mirrors this page — all 16 hats, ticked in your browser and saved locally, so it survives refreshes and re-visits. It is the simplest way to see "three to go" at a glance mid-run.

FAQ

How many hats are in Gawr Gura: Quest for Bread?

16. Ten are hidden across the zones, five drop from no-damage boss kills, and the Bread Hat is awarded automatically for finishing the game. Steam’s achievement text gives no count, so the total is cross-checked across two independently written community guides; we are confirming each entry in-game.

Where do I find all hats in Gawr Gura: Quest for Bread?

Start with the quick list above for the overview, then the step-by-step section for exact spots — one entry per hat, in route order. For the five boss hats, each entry links to a full no-damage guide for that fight. The interactive checklist lets you track what is left.

Is the Pizza Hat missable?

Yes — it is the only confirmed missable hat. Enter the break room off the bounce-pad route in Calli’s Fortress before passing the circle-shaped door at the top: both of our sources warn the door locks permanently behind you. Every other hat’s missable status is still being verified in a post-game save.

What do you get for collecting every hat?

The Shark of Many Hats achievement. Each of the five no-damage boss hats also unlocks its own achievement on the same clean kill, so a full hat run takes a big bite out of the eleven-achievement list — see the achievements guide for the rest.
