Gawr Gura: Quest for Bread Speedrun Guide

Last reviewed: · Sources & evidence status below

Official Information Needs Gameplay Verification

Short answer: Quest for Bread ships with a dedicated speedrun mode — an in-game split timer, per-level timing, and restart options (restart run / restart from checkpoint). The game's own speedrun target is Ride on Time: finish with under 35 minutes on the in-game clock. Beyond that, verified routes, splits and skips are still being established by the community — this page explains the systems, and we will publish route content only once it is backed by real runs.

Timer behavior

The developer's speedrun-system updates added an in-game split timer and adjusted timer behavior around cutscenes and menus, so the displayed time tracks actual gameplay rather than including idle cinematic time. Exact edge-case rules (pause behavior, load screens) are being verified against the current patch before we document them as fact.

Restart options

Two restart paths exist in the updated system: restart run (full reset) and restart from checkpoint (level-level recovery), with per-level timing improvements making segment practice practical. Combined with Save Anytime outside speedrun mode, practicing individual zones is straightforward.

Ride on Time vs. real speedruns

  • Ride on Time is an achievement with a fixed, generous bar: sub-35 minutes on the in-game clock. Any completion-focused player can get it on a second playthrough.
  • Actual leaderboard speedruns are a different discipline — tighter routing, boss-kill optimization, and movement tech. Those communities are still forming for this game.

What we will NOT publish yet

No world records, best-route claims, split tables or advanced skips appear on this page, because none have been verified from real runs. When we capture our own runs or confirm community leaderboard data, this section will be replaced with sourced route content — clearly dated and attributed.
